(a) Explain the following terms:
Organizations Interaction, Interdependence, Integration.
(b) Write about schematic model of a system.
(c) What are formal and informal systems?
(d) List out different phases in system development.
(e) What is participatory design?
(f) What are the characteristics of successful system development team?
(g) What is fact finding and fact analysis?
(h) Define the term prototyping.
(i) Which are the steps to be followed in feasibility analysis?
(j) What is object oriented analysis and design?


Section B Marks 5 each

2. What is the importance of system analysis and design methodologies when building a system? Why not just build the system in what ever way seeing to be ‘quick and easy’? What value is provided by using an ‘Engineering’ approach?

3. What steps make up system development cycle with structured analysis? Describe each step briefly.

4. Describe the concept and procedure used in constructing DFDs. Use an example of your own to illustrate.

5. Describe your university or college as a system. What is the input, the output, the boundary, the components, their interrelationships, the constraints, the purpose, the interface, and the environment? Draw the diagram of the system.

6. Contrast the difference between CASE, object-oriented and visual development tools. How are these tools similar? How are these tools different?

7. Discuss what is meant by information system planning and steps involved in the process. Compare it with corporate strategic planning.

8. How do you know when to use structured English, decision table, or decision tree? Which is best for what situation? Explain each with example.

9. What elements of data flow diagram should be analysed as part of data medelling? Explain it with example of conceptual data modeling and why E-R is also required?
